Student Internship Permits
A UK Student Internship is a short period in which a student can take up paid work provided an employer offers it. The Student Internship arrangements allow students from outside the EEA studying first or higher degree courses overseas to undertake an internship with an employer in the UK. In order to be eligible to apply for an Internship Work Permit, the following requirements must be satisfied:
- the student must not have previously undertaken an internship with the employer;
- the internship is for a maximum of three months;
- the internship is an established component of the employer?s recruitment procedure; and
- the internship must offer pay and conditions that are similar to a 'resident worker', that is, payment should reflect the normal trainee rates applicable to the profession or sector in which the internship is offered.
Student Internships will only be approved where the company or organisation has a significant trading presence in the UK and in other countries.
