HSMP, an overview of the Visa
The Highly Skilled Migrant Programme attracts individuals that have specialist skills in any area to the United Kingdom. The visa application requirements were modified recently making it easier for many individuals and their dependants to live and work in the UK. The changes make the scheme one of the most popular skilled immigration programmes in the world.
HSMP applicants are generally interested in work opportunities in the UK with any employer of their choosing. Others hope to engage in self-employment opportunities as consultants, by starting their own business, or by joining another business as a director or partner.
HSMP is suitable for an extremely wide range of applicants as it encompasses all sectors of the economy such as financials, telecommunications, retail, services, and manufacturing. Managers, accountants, lawyers, academics, researchers, scientists, and clinicians are all covered, as the list is endless.
Eligibility is based on evidence of your age, educational qualifications, and earnings. If you would like further information and personal advice on HSMP, please complete our simple query form.
Does the Highly Skilled Migrant Programme differ from a UK Work Permit?
UK Work Permit has a number of disadvantages compared to HSMP.
HSMP offers flexibility. HSMP applicants do not need a job offer before they apply for the visa. HSMP does not require employer sponsorship. Finally, you will not be tied to one employer.
Can my partner work in the UK?
Under the HSMP scheme, the visa holder's dependants enjoy the same employment rights as UK nationals. Your family will have permission to work in the UK as they wish. They may undertake any employment or self-employment they choose.

Will my qualifications be considered for points?
